Should beat Hudds and then we go to a massive game at Cas.

At least we are involved with big games at the right end if the table.

Re: Salford (Home) : Sun Aug 18, 2019 4:10 pm
2016/17 we had a team capable of beating anyone, it must have been a coaches dream. That team could motivate itself but more importantly to me, implement Radfords' style of coaching and game plan. Big men across the park to steam roller over the opposition. Not saying we didn't turn in an abject performance now and then though.
2018/19 older squad, couple of the stars missing, no real quality in recruitment and we struggle with Radfords game plan as we have no size or speed or alternative way or style of playing, 2nd half at Catalan aside.
Next season the recruitment is exciting and again building a team in the mould Radford likes. Big blokes across the park once more.
I'm sure we'll see an upturn in performance next season but I think that'll be down to the quality recruited and not the quality of coaching.
Salford and London play a more entertaining type of rugby than us with far less resources and maintain a never say die attitude, sadly something we lack now.
Due to the ongoing issues we have season after season still not being rectified I'd look to replace the coaching team.

And before you guys who won't have a bad word said against the club or coach jump down my throat remember this is my opinion on a discussion forum.

I thought that when we played them at magic, see what happened there, record magic defeat.

I also thought we'd win last night.

I do however think we'll see a reaction against Hudds and beat them.

I think we saw yesterday the difference a good full back like Evalds makes to a team.
For me Shaul has not kicked on and his deficiency in the attacking line is so plain to see.
It wont happen but replacing Shaul with an Evalds/Coote type full back would make us a different animal in attack.
agreed Connor would be a better full back option but i like many others want to see him back at right centre.Ratu will also benefit from having Connor back at right centre.

You often appear to me, like the young boy in the other room, who constantly shouts the same thing until an adult takes notice. You assassinated Yeahman, then Connor and Griffin at least now your hatred of centres has moved to fullback. The pack aren’t giving the backs a platform to play. Yesterday’s first half they did and we scored 16 unanswered points but mistakes killed us in the second. I’m not happy with the situation the club is in but to constantly harp on about 1 player is simply not on. I agree we need coaching changes and suggested in another thread some time ago that if Watson could be prised from Salford and would work alongside Radford that would make us world beaters but as someone else posted earlier, unless you’ve got a couple of million to spare, you’ll have to put up with it.

Thats just one of Houghtons deficiencies at the play the ball nothing to do with Radford.

starting against Huddersfield Radford has to get his best team on the park with players in their best positions and hopefully get the wins we need.
He can start with Connor back at right centre and Tuimavave left centre to bolster that left edge defence.Griffin on the bench interchanging with Minichello and Manu.
No place for Westerman for me.Ellis to 13.
last chance salon for Shaul

Looking at the way Carlos went off, he may be a doubt.

looking at hastings yesterday, thats the role connor should be playing for hull,he has the talent,he now needs to make his presence felt on the pitch.great players control a game,he needs to grow up a bit and stop winding people up and argueing with refs.wether he has the talent to grow in stature on the field and become the player I think he is capable of is open to question.

When i see deficiencies in players or in the coach i will comment as this is what discussion boards are about.
Yeaman is very old ground but was stealing a living from the club and should have been released but kept on too long by Radford very similar to the Mini and Manu situation, and then was then given a role at the club which he had no experience at all. There is no room for sentiment in sport or Business.
Connor has thrown his dummy out and been moved around doesnt help his game. You will see in my messages i want to see him back in the centre with Ratu even though he would make a much better full back than Shaul.
Griffin i have criticised as i dont think he is a good centre.he is now 29,has never been anywhere near an England call up so i cant be the only one who doesnt rate him as a centre. He has had a decent season but i have said previously several times he would make a better second row only for others on here to scoff at the idea yet Radford will move him into the second row next season so i think i am correct on this one.
I like jamie Shaul but just feel he is not kicking on in the full back position.he should be working his socks off on timing linking into the line and finding a pass but has stagnated. He also loses concentration at times around the play the ball and is not alert to an offload of loose ball.
Would be very happy if we could have a full back like Evalds
You have to wonder what coaches like Watson would be able to do with the budget and backing that Radford has but regretfully Radford wont be going anywhere else soon

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Re: Salford (Home) : Sun Aug 18, 2019 6:39 pm
Watson has Hastings, probably the best player in SL at the moment.

Exceptional players is key positions make all the difference, a bit like how Warrington rely heavily on Austin.

I wonder how we would have fared if Kelly had played and was firing on all cylinders?
