Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Another exemption:

All Players (outside a Club’s Top 25 paid players) who: (i) are age eligible to play at U21 level in the relevant Season; and (ii) are paid £20k or less would be excluded from a Club’s Salary Cap.

Our gross spend exceeds the cap. When you deduct amounts exempted we are under the cap.

it wasn't said directly, but it was certainly what AP implied. He doesn't want to discuss salaries in specific terms, nor should he. I rarely agree with Mrs B, but s(he) is right on this one.

This is why it makes sense to take one's time before starting threads with inflammatory tone such as this before taking the appropriate time to interpret the comments in measured fashion. Bait in haste, repent at leisure...

As said I'm not sure AP's comments change things much. I'm looking forward to seeing the new side in a couple of weeks, particularly those players touted as on marquee level salaries. Equally we have a very tricky set of opening fixtures so expectations with a new pack should be managed.

To be fair mrs b

If Pearson actually said

Just to be clear, when you say you have players that qualify under the marquee rule, do you have marquee players?
We’ve got marquee players who qualify under the marquee rule

Then it’s pretty misleading, if he actually meant what you prefer. Anyway who cares, like you excited for the start of season and challenging for silverware

He didn't say we were using the marquee rule. Having highly paid players is one thing. Using the marquee rule is different.

As for the comment on silverware, I think the usual health warnings apply. We've ended the last 2 years in our expected slot between 5 & 8, are lacking a quality prop and are starting the year with a hooker from the championship. I think Lee has recruited well, but the team will take time to gel. Hope Jones has had adequate rest after his epic 2019 season.

You have an unprecedented salary cap spend and are packed with international standard players. You still manage to fall out over it.

Try discussing the relative merits of Jamie Ellis or Ryan Brierley as your first choice 7.
