A big if, but if we win tomorrow we will be referred to as the early season pace setters. Which is nice.

Even if we lose by under ten points we'll stay top.

Didn’t they have a record defeat (Wigan?) three days after a derby victory?

Excluding play-offs and middle 8s, Rovers SL record today stands at 133 wins, 10 draws and 174 defeats (.435 as they’d have it in the US).

Against Hull FC in regular season SL fixtures Rovers record is 17 wins and 20 defeats or .459.

In the next SL game following a derby Rovers record is 16 wins and 19 defeats or .457.

There are two fewer ‘next games’, as I haven’t counted them when they fell in the next season e.g. the last derby of 2008 was in the final round of that season

There’s no obvious pattern I noticed beyond a tendency for Rovers to win more derbies and more next games when they were better. For example, under Morgan, Rovers were 9-6 up in regular season derbies and had a 8-6 record in next games. Since then it has been 8-14 and 8-13, respectively.

We did and then beat Saints the game after that. However, given that Wigan did the double that year, it wasn’t an obvious game to target at the expense of taking two points from a more winnable match versus the 2013 edition of Hull FC.

Last year was quite a miserable season at both clubs for matches played immediately following the 3 derbies as neither gained a win. After the first the points conceded were reasonable but in the subsequent 2 Hull shipped 102 points and Rovers 106.

Hull lost home and away against St Helens with Rovers going down to Wigan away and home to Warrington.

I think that might have been the year we backed up a derby defeat with a win away at a good Warrington team (leaving Hull fans asking why they couldn’t have played like that against Rovers!)
Trouble is with the Easter fixtures, you don’t get to revel in a good Friday victory when you then go and get beat on the Easter Monday.

Especially when you concede 84!

They’ve done away with the Easter double round this year, iirc?

So only Huddersfield are unbeaten with Wakefield beating Warrington today. Seen some Wire fans calling for Price to go.

Correct, a normal round of fixtures save the Good Friday games being lunchtime and mid afternoon. No games on Easter Monday.
