AP's anniversary : Wed Jul 22, 2020 3:36 pm
Nine years ago today..
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-leagu ... 0ownership.

Been a mixed bag, some rocky early years and recent ones, but also the greatest moment in many supporters' sporting lives along the way. And 18 years since he first wanted to buy the club, so a long term interest. Hopefully we can move through the current challenges with limited impact and get back to challenging the top teams again.

Agree with that assessment, two unforgettable Wembley days and a club (before Corona) on a much more stable footing, but our league form has been disappointing, you'd have expected at least a Grand Final defeat for the outlay. Also a dry up of young players coming through after a burst 5 or so years ago.

Let's hope we can come through this, Not sure what plan, cut, invest and guarantee equates to, but the more that able to stick with the club the better our chances.

We are certainly living in ever changing times, the club will survive, with Kelly gone we save about £100K (at least), we have to accept that we will be mid table for a few years, especially if we have retained Houghton and Shaul.

Cloth needs to be cut and we don't have a benefactor like many clubs. Survival through passholder retention must the the primary, if very challenging, aim.

How many SL clubs have benefactors?

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Genuine question. What makes these guys benefactors and Pearson not?

How is Caddick a benefactor? Yup, he's written large sums off but he/his company have returned large sums from Leeds and the cricket side also. Writing debts off to offset tax makes it a neutral cost doesn't it, ergo no actual 'loss', so isn't a true benefactor.
I reckon Davey is probably the only true benefactor out of the lot.

Pearson is an investor, he's 'invested' in buying property/land and a club to make money.
