In regards to Jake and a possible ban whilst I fully understand and appreciate the RFL clamping down on things if that is deemed worthy of a ban then the game really is in trouble. You see this in every single game and had Hardaker not started bleeding it would have just been a penalty. I’m not even sure if it was the contact from Jake or hardaker then catching Savelios shoulder that resulted in the nose bleed.
The yellow should be more than enough however the issue is that the RFL and the officials are making a rod for their own backs as these decisions if made have to be consistent and they aren’t week to week or even in the same game. So are we going to see any contact with the head ruled as a yellow from now on? No of course not as after 15-20 mins it’ll be down to a sevens match.
Jake was penalised for tapping Bateman on the head yet Bateman does very similar and nothing. Which ultimately makes a mockery of the game and then people wonder why fans aren’t bothering so much anymore.
You only have to look at the howlers that have been made not just by on field officials but even the VR’s so far this season, I know they are human and mistakes can happen but the % of errors so far is unacceptable for ‘professional’ officials.
If all fairness Jake it should be yellow as sufficient plus a warning on his technique.
We have the same discussions every season, and practically every week now, had tons of conversations about officials, my question now is when do the RL decide some officials just simply are not competant?
There's zero accountability or transparency , and the fact most of inconsistencys go in favour of what you'd class as the big four is frustrating and makes you wonder if there's abit of an agenda/biased from the officials?
As long as these same officials keep officiating and having no accountability , the same inconsistencies will be repeated. Making it very hard to beat teams like Wigan.
