I'm afraid the jury seems to be out on Webster so far.
When he does inject himself into the game he is reasonably effective but he seems to playing too far out wide at the moment to have as much impact as he should.
The problem is that there are concerns over the make-up of the pack at Widnes this year. We are short of any big props up front and although Ostick is going well so far, he is a young lad who doesn't have much experience. We're also missing a few injured so the pack is not dominating and we all know how that can effect the performance of the half backs.
Having said that, there is also concern over James' fitness and that he may be carrying a long term injury, the travel my be getting to him and also the off-field upheaval at the club can't help the stability for the team.
There's a lot of expectation on James shoulders this season because of what he achieved at Rovers and he doesn't seem to be fulfilling that expectation just yet but it is early days.
