Doncaster RLFC are pleased to announce the signing of promising youngster Fran Welsh for the forthcoming season.
19 year-old Welsh has been playing with Upton ARLFC this season and recently secured a man of the match performance against Fryston. The Pontefract born prospect can play anywhere in the forwards but admits his preferred position is prop.
Welsh was a part of Hull FC's successful scholarship programme and was recently involved in Castleford Tigers' ACER programme. He also has a couple of England Schoolboy under 16's test appearances against France under his belt.
Welsh said: "I'm really grateful to Doncaster for giving me this opportunity and I hope I can push for a place in the seventeen.
"I think we have a great squad of players and there seems to be a good mixture of youth and experience which could prove to be beneficial for us."
Dons' head coach Tony Miller said: "Fran is yet another young and exciting prospect we have brought to the club and I know he will do his best to secure a place in the pack.
"We have a number of options in the forwards and this can only be good news for the Dons."
