Fascinating end of the season in prospect DM, old cliche but it is in our hands. The players must know that we should be higher up that table and that they blew it on a few occasions. We have not been hammered (scoreline) wise at all apart from arguably Haven at Haven. I'm optimistic that given the breaks we can make an impact in the playoffs.
I agree, Wilf. It's fascinating.
I think it's really important that we at least make fourth place as 5th and 6th places are so much more difficult to deal with.
As it stands, you'd have to think that Newcastle (or Whitehaven if they don't finish top) will be at home in the play-off final as the play-offs are rightly biased in favour of the team that finishes second.
We're presently battling to try to make that route to the final a little easier than it otherwise might be.
We're certainly capable of beating any of the top teams on our day but the fewer away trips we have, the better.
Were we to play two away games in the play-offs with an even money chance of winning each, this equates to a 25% winning chance overall, or odds of 3/1. The flip-side would be a 75% chance of not doing it!
Let's beat Oldham, win all our other games, and improve those odds by finishing third!
