Has there been an this year? I must have gone into this tournament with the lowest expectations ever, in fact I expected us to do worse than 24 - 10.
The size difference when we play the Kiwis/Aussies is always just astounding, you get people like Brown, Robinson, Shenton. Who must all weigh about 11 stone and get dominated in tackles. The Kiwis or Aussies never seem to have these "freak" sized people that we historically have. (Particularly the aussies, line them all up and it's hard to tell who would play where)
Also we have Steve McNamara!!!! Bring back *insert any previous coach here*
There is always hype, at the very least there is certainly misplaced optimism as far as our peregrinations abroad are concerned.
I'm personally sick of being drubbed, not so much by the Kiwis as by the Aussies. As you say they have superior levels of fitness and physicality, but they are human like our lads, so how does that work.
No one nation as a species superior to another, so it's down to training, technique and mental attitude.
So I say get it sorted, we are a laughing stock. The Aussies must love us, since it's almost a formality.
If it wasn't for the fact that Aussies hate losing, and owing to the fact that because of the fixtures the Aussies can't afford to let us win ... it would be in their best interests to do so. Since England in the final versus Kiwis in the final is a gimme for them.
And the fixture list this time is appalling since there will be two dead rubber games before the final.
I also found out that the two video match officials that turned down the England try by Brown were an Aussie and a KIWI as a neutral.
It can't go on like this.
