Yes the Dons were dominant....but also far from ruthless or professional at times.
You want your side to do things in a professional way and that means getting the best out of situations by having players do the right things at all times and not repeating mistakes.
Yes this is hypercritical but is in search of perfection. Something not possible in sport admittedly but certainly one of playing the percentages to maximise results.
So what rattled my cage then yesterday?
In no particular order....
A prop attempting to catch a ball from a kick off when that is the job of a back.
I say attempting...I mean floundering, not once but three times on the trot!
The cheer Ben Johnston got on the fourth kick off, when he pouched it said it all.
Don't put a prop there!
The first three conversion attempts...the first hit the upright so no worries there, the next two were as though I was taking them.
Here we were professional, we changed kickers and to someone who should be the kicker anyway.
Lastly...why oh why do we keep it in the forwards when that is not where the points are coming from?
The wingers got 5 tries between them...it should have been double that...but when Johnston went off and his skill went with him we decided that lumbering up the middle to little avail was the way 'forward'...pun intended.
Not professional and not ruthless!
Apart from that the Dons were near perfect...
