Without meaning to be disrespectful, a Super League player playing for any lower division side without hope of return would be considered a punishment. Should Adam pretend we're on an even footing? That would just be moronic. I understand the frustration about us signing Harris (especially when Miloudi is twice the player) but surely you've befitted from our partnership? For the first time ever I read every single of your match reports, and it always seems Hull lads are doing well for you. I'm not stirring either, I'm genuinely interested - would you be better off without dual reg, would you like a clean break? If we have a much more limited dual reg next season and give the A team priority, will that benefit you? In an ideal World I'd love Donny's youth system to produce quality first teamers and you to progress naturally up to Super League level but is that realistic?
The DR/Loan system splits opinion amongst Dons fans, just like it seems to do with the fans of all Championship/Championship One clubs.
I wrote an article on the Hull forum last Saturday giving feedback on how the Hull lads had done this season. They've been a credit to themselves and to the Hull club by the professionalism they've shown.
I appreciate that Hull are a 'big club' and we're the 'minnows' but any DR arrangement has got to work equally well for both parties. The big issue of the moment is whether Hull will want to play the likes of Jordan Lane, Jez Litten, and Hakim Miloudi in their first team to give them more first team experience, or allow them to come to the Dons to help us get out of this league. Those lads are Hull players and I respect that Hull can do what they want with them but I for one will be wanting the DR arrangement ripped up if we don't get them for the end of season games that really matter.
All of the Hull players who have come on loan or DR certainly add something to our team but not knowing when a player may or may not be available is a nightmare.
We only have a relatively small squad of players. We can't have a squad of 30 as the lads who aren't getting picked get fed up and want to move on to get first team rugby. That's understandable. Without the Hull lads though our squad is certainly a bit thin. If Hull don't work with us over the end of season games, I would rather we cut ties and have a bigger squad of players ourselves for next season. We cannot allow our destiny to be put in the hands of who Hull want to send to us, and when. There has to be better co-operation than that.
