Some of the most memorable games I have seen the Dons play
Defeating Leeds away at Headingley 26th October 1963 by 22-12 winger Brian Tasker scored four tries to equal the clubs tries scored in a match record set by Vernon Grace against Rochdale Hornets 4th October 1952
Dons beating Leeds at Tattersfield 7-6 in 1963 thanks to a long range drop goal by stand off Vince Hattee
Dons winning at Hilton Park against Leigh Alex Murphy played scrum half for Leigh, forward Steve McManus was the star of the Dons team
Dons winning at Mount Pleasant Batley to win promotion to the big league
Winning there first game in the big league away at St Helens
Does anyone remember going to the Friday night away fixture at Barrow when the team bus broke down I dont think the game kicked off until around 08-45pm
The local fish & chip shop did a roaring trade that night I seem to recall that the supporters coach also broke down on the way back home.
Does any remember the fiasco when we played a Sunday away game at Carlisle lots of supporters made the trip on arriving at the Carlisle we were told the match was off as the pitch was frost bound & unplayable.
Happy Days
