What's happening, Steve? Are you getting grief elsewhere?
For the second week running, the post came to our aid. I thought Ridyard would have nailed the conversion that hit the woodwork.
Oldham got tired later which may have been a result of them not having played a competitive game this season. Without their yellow card, I suspect we wouldn't have won.
All credit to the lads though for battling but it must be said that we got out of jail again. Our defending in the first half was woeful at times. It is worrying how we can be dissected down the middle about 40 metres out.
I was fearing a possible red card for Ben Johnston at the end. That would have been extremely bad news.
Positives: Jack Sanderson found some scoring form; Alex Holdstock was able to come back on after looking as though he'd got a serious knock; Matt James made an impact down the middle and Connor Robinson's goal-kicks were vital. Misi did well when he came on. He adds a buzz to things even though he's nearly as old as me!
Nevertheless, on balance, the first two competitve games have been disappointing. I'm less hopeful about promotion now than I was before a ball was kicked. We have got scope to get better and should improve over the next few games but we're certainly no certs to go up. If we don't improve, we could well be on the wrong end of a few results.
