| Sampled this weekend;
Everards Tiger Triple Gold
Slightly darker in colour than Tiger, more a copper colour than gold. Fruity and a touch sweet 5.0%.
JW Lees Hopping Mad
Not sure where the hops are in this, certainly not evident. A poor tasteless mild with no redeeming features even the malt had a watery feel. One to avoid 3.5%.
Okells Isle of Man Red
Ruby red ale with a fruity palate and hints of nuts 4.7%.
Batemans Dragons Den
Amber in colour and not dis-similar to the brewery's Autumn Fall. Hops and fruits in evidence but a nice clean / fresh taste in the mouth 4.1%.
along with (previously sampled)
Acorn Barnsley Bitter
Acorn Darkness
St Georgen Brau Keller Bier

Maybe the name Hopping Mad is a reference to the state of mind of the consumer when he or she tastes the beer after assuming it promised a hoppy experience.

I think that you are correct.

| Managed to pop in to the Beverley Court Hotel last night and they had a couple of beers on that I find particularly enjoyable. One that I've recently mentioned on here Marstons Dragons Tale and a long-standing favourite of mine, Brains Reverend James.

| Had a couple of familiar brews last night (Adnams Broadside and Batemans XB) plus some new to me;
Titanic White Star
Blonde bitter, very hoppy, in fact a little too hoppy for my palate. Also a peppery aftertaste 4.8%.
HB Clarks Elementary Mild
Unspectacular but pleasant dark beer with a hint of chocolate 3.8%.
Saltaire Big Apricot Ale
Golden ale, hoppy but the apricot was too overpowering 5.0%.

| Earlier this week;
Thwaites Highwayman
Dark ale with (what is described as a 'smokey') malt flavour and hints of chocolate. Very nice 4.0%.
Summer Wine Brewery Furnace Gold
Another dark ale with a roasted malt palate and bitter aftertaste. Again very nice 4.2%.

| Had a very nice pint of Marston Moor's Brewer's Droop, now brewed by Rudgate, I believe, but has lost none of its quality, at the Green Dragon, Hardraw en route back from Keswick today.
I have incidentally stocked up on bottled ales at Booth's again. will let you know the outcome of the tasting session Tried one so far, Fyne Ales Avalanche, an excellent citrusy IPA type ale. Lovely.

| To conclude a rather fine weekend spent with my 8 year old son, I have tasted Ashover's Winter Warmer ( Ashover Tit), an appropriate name if ever there was one, but eminently palatable plus Ashover's Coffin Lane Stout, which I have tasted and admired previously at the Arkwright Arms, Sutton-cum-Duckmanton.
I also made a rare visit to sample the Sam Smith's Old Brewery Bitter at the Royal Oak, Ulley and am pleased to say it has retained its quality with the change of patron. Rounding the BH weekend off nicely with a couple of bottles of Marston's Oyster Stout obtained cheaply and cheerfully from Booth's in Keswick at £1 a bottle.
