O/T Marauders Vs Northallerton Stallions : Mon Sep 13, 2010 11:02 am
Moorends 72 - North Allerton 6A comprehensive win for Moorends could see them moved up a league after an impressive start to the season. The scoring started early with Dean Armstrong and Lewis Downing scoring well taken tries. Moorends forwards Trevor Lake, Roger McClean and Gareth Monroe were creating a solid platform for half backs Ryan Rafferty and Mark Roach to both get on the scoresheet with tries. Strong running substitute Shaun Carver then caused havoc with his size and bulk scoring an amazing hat trick within ten minutes of coming on the pitch.
The second half saw further tries from Roach, Rafferty, Pickles (2) and Tipper, with young man of the match Lewis Downing kicking 10 conversions. The try of the match came towards the end when ball playing prop forward Ernie Lake created confusion in the Allerton defence with mesmeric ball handling skills to allow Ryan Rafferty to claim his hat trick. Other strong performances came from Chris Malam, Craig Hookway, Mark Aveyard, Shane Lake and debutant Phil Cuttle, but an overall team effort gained Moorends their second win of the season.
Training on the Moorends Rec, Grange Road, Moorends every Tuesday and Thursday evenings @ 6.30pm, new and old players always welcome.
