First ever Rugby League Supporters Direct Conference : Sun Oct 10, 2010 11:21 pm
Well done everyone involved, a lot better than I feared. However it would have been better with complementary beer and buns.
All the speakers on the stage were excellent with interesting views and tips.
Highlights for me:
Where the chair of Hornets RL who became visibly emotional when talking about his club and experiences.
The journalist Danny Lockwood refering to the Dons, Blackpool & Gateshead as hardy perenials appearing to imply that the RL would continue to let these clubs stagger on when he spoke of the need to have licensing restrictions on all clubs similar to those in Super League.
Martin Cheyney of Bramley Buffaloes explaining the minimum standards his club's ground needs to meet to be allowed in Championship 1, these appear a lot higher than those at the new Oldham ground.
Danny Lockwood explaining he had to wait 8 month for a Super League club to settle its £130 bill.
& I clapped a tory MP (god forbid) when he spoke in favour of restoring promotion & relegation that was contrary to the opinion of everyone else on the front table who were all in favour of nothing short of a closed shop.
