Northampton has been chosen (short of an announcement) to be the first of four clubs to join C1 from 2013. The other 3 will be announced at monthly intervals if all goes to plan.
Part of the requirement was that they formed a link with a SL club, in this case it's Wakefield Wildcats.
It seems that this is the model for the other 3 potentially successful clubs, namely a link with a SL club, or no go.

It also says in the article that Wigan have wasted no time and have forged a link with South Wales Scorpions ... erm I thought they were already a C1 club? So I don't see the similarity.

Now if potential clubs are busy trying to forge links and existing clubs are forging links ... we had better get in early at the jumble sale hadn't we?

Who are the Dons linked with???
And if nobody why not?

It's not a bad old link for SWS is it if they can capture a top club like Wigan?
We had better watch out, we might get left behind..

I thought we already had a decent relationship with Hull FC.

personally I didn't consider the way they kept hauling Chris Green back last season decent - if he'd been going back to play for their first team then fair enough but he wasn't. Not only was it disruptive on us it also defeated the point of him coming here which I presume, from their perspective, was to get experience of playing at a level between where he was and super league. What could he really have gained from such a short interrupted stint?

We'd have probably got promotion if he'd played a few more games for us as well.
Before anyone mentions it, I know he had some injuries.

There was a thought that we might forge a 'working relationship' with the Wildcats having had Gareth Potts on loan last season and probably more importantly with Richard Agar moving from Hull to Wakefield.

I'm guessing new clubs are linking up with Super League clubs so they can get half a dozen players on loan and not get annihalated every time they play an existing Championship 1 team.
