Dons Get Sported : Thu Jan 05, 2012 10:17 pm
Doncaster RLFC's community development team have successfully applied to become members of Sported.
Sported is a nationally run charitable organisation that provides business support and financial resources to community sports organisations. This enables them to reach and improve the lives of more disadvantaged young people than ever before. The organisation was founded in 2008 by Sir Keith Mills after successfully piloting the scheme in the London, South West and West Midlands regions. Sported introduced a dedicated regional roll out across the Yorkshire and Humber region last June at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. The Dons community team have worked tirelessly to gain membership and will be working in partnership with Sported to utilise their expertise in community development projects. Dons chief executive Carl Hall said: "This is tremendous news for the club and it further highlights the hard work the team is producing week in, week out. "Our community development team is only small and the lads are certainly punching above their weight when it comes to performance. "Adam (Lloyd) and Martin (Rowlands) have done a fantastic job in spreading the benefits of exercise and rugby league in and around the Doncaster area and we're hoping this membership will lead us to even more success."
