I cannot see a league of more than 16 in the Championship being 'manageable'. Would they want to shoe-horn New York straight into the Championship? Would that mean only one promotion place from Championship One in 2020 with two teams being relegated? Who knows?

Typically, far too much uncertainty for League One going forward.

I'll reiterate what I have been saying since we missed out last season, it would be a travesty not to get promoted this season.

If this uncertainty isn't sorted, more and more clubs will panic in the belief there is no future for clubs outside of the Championship, and we'll see some go bust because of it.

Teams at the bottom of the Championship can't be feeling too good about the uncertainty either.

There are currently 12 Super League teams, 14 Championship teams, and 11 League One teams. That's 37 in total.

By the time the new broadcasting deal is finalised, we can add Ottawa and New York to the list giving 39 professional clubs.

If 30 is the upper limit, that would mean 9 teams would go. In theory, that could well be nine of the eleven teams in League One at that time presuming the Championship has already been increased by two to include Ottawa and New York.

Could you imagine the mayhem that would cause in the final season before the culling?

The RFL really need to get their act together on this and let everyone know what their intentions are.
