It feels somewhat like two steps forward (victories over promotion rivals Oldham and Hunslet) then one step back (defeat to Newcastle).

There is the midweek distraction of an 1895 Cup tie against Sheffield Eagles to negotiate first but then a trip to Coventry beckons.

Hard to know what effect playing three games in a week will have on the players, but it is essential to the Dons play-off hopes that further league points are not dropped in this fixture.

Last Season: Coventry 4 Doncaster 46 (Sunday 5 August 2018).
Dons Tries: Jordan Howden, Richard Owen, Connor Bower 2, Frankie Mariano, Aaron Jones-Bishop, Ryan Boyle, Russ Spiers, Brad England.
Dons Conversions: Matty Beharrell 5.

Please Note: This fixture is being played at Broadstreet RFC, The Ivor Preece Centre, 105 Rugby Road, Binley Woods, Coventry CV3 2AY.

This game is being live streamed on the Our League App.

I'm away on holiday on Saturday so will watch it on the coach as we travel.

Coventry have looked quite well organised in the two home games we've played against them this season.

The two wins have been by 38-16 and 44-18 but the half-time scores in those games have been 12-8 and 16-12.

Our greater fitness seems to have played a part in getting on top in the second half. My concern is whether we will have the same energy levels on Saturday. If we don't, the game could be closer than we might hope, although I'm hopeful we should still be a little too strong for them.

They used to play Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day & go to work in between, no substitutes,no having a breather in a pretend scrum the forwards had to work hard to win the ball in a contested scrum, unlimited tackles & no pointless kicking giving the ball back to the opposition.

They were the days, Geoff. Your boots sunk so deep into the quagmire, you were lucky to keep your boot on as you tried to move forwards. We had a supply of orange balls just in case the winter snow had any ideas of getting in the way. No moving kick-offs to midday as all the players would be at work. Stewart Piper used to score with more punches in a season than he got tries. And whoever thought of 8 interchanges?

Problem with Mr Piper he couldn't match the technique of Bernard Asquith
sorry to say not many people on here will have seen Bernard trading punches with the opposition, you also failed to mention that the scrum half used to put the ball in the middle of the two front rows unlike today where they feed it to there own loose forward what a farce no wonder Ted Heath emigrated to America & made a successful career as a professional wrestler.
Happy Days

I wonder if we'll get Jez Litten tomorrow now his move has been made public.

No Jez Litten but Dean Hadley a surprise.

None of the Hull players from the midweek game included but three others are. Brown and Buchanan joining Hadley.

Richard Owen in the 19. Menzie Yere not included.
