Perhaps it typifies this League DM, not easy to predict some of the games. Our best is good enough but the problems (mindset) that have cost us silly results has to be spot on.

You're right, Wilf, all games between teams in the top half are potentially close affairs with game management being key.

How to think clearly when under pressure (not getting out into touch on the second tackle, for example), no silly penalties, and no back chat to the ref, could make all the difference.

The score just before half time was welcome 18-8 to Oldham

40-14 well played Oldham too strong all round it appears. No impact on the playoffs for the Dons on this showing.

As you say HD and to paraphrase Another bloody League 1 campaign.

Starting to smell the coffee?
I wonder if they are into coffee on the rah rah Clegbook?

The side had already discounted this one in their collective brain ... as long as there is another chance, what the heck?

We have actually configured one of the worst possible sides and Horne is the orchestrator.
Can you actually imagine him dropping a certain person for the good of the side?
Because I can't.
Tune in here Richard, I will tell you what to do, if you are struggling.

Weekend Results:
W Wales 16-56 N Wales
Keighley 19-48 Whitehaven
Newcastle 88-6 Coventry
Oldham 40-14 Dons

League Table: (Pld, Pts, Points Diff)
Whitehaven 18, 28, +159
Oldham 18, 26, +256
Newcastle 18, 25, +343
Hunslet 17, 22, +241
Dons 18, 20, +193
Worky 18, 19, +126
N Wales 18, 16, -6

It’s official now that we can’t finish in the top three. We’ll finish 4th, 5th, or 6th providing we don’t get caught by N Wales for 6th place. That’s unlikely as they have a vastly inferior points difference.

Should Hunslet win two of their last three (London (A), Worky (H), Oldham (H)) we can’t catch them.

Worky have got to play Hunslet (A) and Dons (H).
We’ve got Keighley (H) and Worky (A).

The Dons points difference took a hit today. Hunslet are now 48 points better than us. That could play a major part in where we finish.

Hunslet play at London next Friday. We badly need London to win.

The Hunslet v Worky game is then key in the next to last round of games. A Worky win means we will have to win or draw at Worky to stay ahead of them.

Hunslet play at Oldham on the last day of the season.

Hunslet could draw a blank in their last three games and finish on 22 points. We may only need to beat Keighley to catch them... but then points diff would come into play.

We need to put plenty past Keighley next time out. Worky could still finish fourth... lots of permutations are still possible.

Finishing 6th means playing away to Team 5, finishing 5th means playing Team 6 at home. If winning, then playing Team 3 or 4 away.

Finishing 4th means playing Team 3 away and getting another chance should we lose. Consequently, finishing fourth is considerably better than finishing fifth or sixth.

Today's result was a bad one on several counts: Oldham will feel they've 'got us' should we play them again, we can't make the top three, our fate for fourth is in Hunslet's hands, and a win at Workington on the last day of the season could be essential or else we might be back there for the play-offs.

I don't believe we can go into any of the games against the teams above us with confidence we can beat them (especially away). It's possible, of course, but we're likely to be odds against in any of those matches.

Were the bookies to price up our promotion odds as things presently stand, I'd say they'd be around 10/1.

That other person SO did not feature last week and we were still brainless (clueless) at times. I feel for the folk who travelled over today they deserve better than this.
