Typical friendly. Useful exercise and no apparent injuries. I'm happy with what I saw today. A lot of positives to take I think. Harry Carter could be a very good signing on today's performance. A couple of very decent spells from Boyle and Douglas. Peltier and Horne both bring something very different to the side. Plenty to work on but a full 4 weeks to get everything right. All is well.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Thank God I'm an atheist.

Good points ..
Rangi Chase, fabulously fit again and interested.
Gonna be good.
Boas, ditto for him.
Peltier a proper size and keen as mustard.
Graham Horne looked interested and so did Brandon Douglas and a few others.

On the flip side ...very little forward power at times, the backs were having to do it.
Terrible left side defence in the second half, compared with the right side defence who were heroic!
Horne is a crap coach who does not intervene when things are going tits up as in the second half.
And has assembled a below strength attack.
Don't care ...I'm no snowflake... it has to be said.

Nobody there for the Wakey game ...

But we should go alright in League 1

A bit of a letdown after some promise.

To RH ...start with your strongest side.
12-0 down trying out others is a bit stupid.

Looks like he won't, he has skulked off.
What a shame.
He has actually nothing to say about today's game.
This is SO easy!

I enjoyed it today there were positives & negatives that was obvious . Thought we matched Sheffield but they picked out a weakness on our left flank and made us pay. Chase/ Boas did well but we missed Martty Beharrells kicking game . Thought the trialist from Wigan St Pats had a solid game. The new signings did not look out of place . Several players to come back soon I hope !

Do not agree with S/O about RH , but it is his opinion , he pays his entrance fee .

Looking forward to Friday & then a home draw in the cup .

Good crowd for a friendly .

A good crowd & I will be back Friday .

Not sure we can read too much into today's game. With so many interchanges things become very disjointed. Had to laugh at the ref not giving a penalty for the high shot on Harry Carter when his red cap was removed. Presumably his head would have to have come off for the ref to give it!

The new guys played with enthusiasm. Ross Peltier is the type of player we've needed for a while. I hope he stays fit. Good to see Rangi have a good game. Hopefully that will set a marker for the rest of the season.

There's plenty to work on but that's what this time of the year is for. We should come on for the game.

My one nagging concern, which is the same as last year, is that we often struggle to drive the ball away from our own line. We can struggle to reach the 40 metre line by the sixth tackle. I very much hope we can improve in this area.

Looking forward to Friday night already. It's great to be watching the Dons again.

I was really pleased with yesterdays performance , Sheffield looked to have a little more speed around the ruck area, but until the 60 minute make we more than held our own.

The interchanging of two or three players at a time effected the cohesion of the team which is only natural , the trialists didn't look out of place ,but our left edge defence was exploited towards the end of the game.
Whoever at the end of the day it was a good run out for first one of the year.

I was impressed with Rickett, Carter and Peltier , they look like they could be the punch we have lacked in previous seasons.

Our kicking game needs to be sharper as numerous times our kicks were rushed due to the Seagulls line speed.

The positives to come from Sunday far outweigh the negatives a few tweeks here and there and Wakefield will have their hands full Friday.

I feel Stand-offish's comments are unfair given its the first game of the season playing what was not far from a full strength Eagles squad.

I still feel we are one prop light, but we look to have assembled a squad capable of challenging for the top spot.

Deleted the playground squabbles. A reminder this is a forum about discussing the Dons, not about discussing the way people talk

I left happy with what I saw on the whole, the new additions to the squad all added something, Peltier particularly looked a handful, especially on his first stint. Chase looked very good, his read for the second try before the ball had even been played was one of those thing I couldn't imagine anyone else on that field doing. Considering the key players not available and the chopping and changing that went on i think the scoreline flattered them, but they're an established team in the division above so all in all an enjoyable watch.

I tend to agree with the comments that the positives outweighed the negatives. A number of very decent performances and the new additions all look like they will give us that little bit of something extra.

I also concur with those statements about another decent prop / middle being needed. We have the backs to run riot in League One as long as we win the forward battle which was sometimes our Achilles heel last season.
