Whelm factor : Tue Mar 03, 2020 6:45 pm
First Post so be gentle with me, after numerous years following my beloved team my whelm factor is at an all time low, I've been a big Carl hall fan and think the loyalty and commitment shown are top notch and also he's a nice bloke and i personally know he wants better for our club but we need a change so badly, in how many other professions can you consistently miss your targets and not be moved aside? Or even held accountable for it? I'm not on the 'cleggbook' thankfully but there's some right deluded brown nosers on there, we will never be able to progress when the first time you question anything Carl's foot soldiers jump in, i feel the brown nosers and happy clappers are holding this club back as it's clear we need a fresh vision and new ideas, we're being served up the same lame excuses week in week out we must be the most understanding set of fans I've ever known, as for our coach it's an experiment that hasn't worked we desperately need someone with charisma and fire in their belly who genuinely looks disappointed when we lose, sorry for the long post and this isn't a rant at Carl because he does deserve better for what he's put into the club it's just my feelings on the club right now, feel free to criticise or put me in my place COYD

One observation re the Barrow game , we started off well if we had gone on & won, things may look different. Well we didn't .

I could say we have only lost 1 league match etc etc

We had a better crowd 982, I think 800 went home disappointed & you cannot blame us / them.

We have under achieved over the last few years not only under Richard Horne . I donot know what else the guy can say . I was hoping he would make a good go of the job . The players have to have a look into the mirror also, they donot seem to learn from their mistakes re discipline

Hope Richard proves us all wrong .

I am not a happy clapper just want the best for the club.

This a thousand times this. I am fed up of the same issues not being addressed and 'taking the positives' from defeats. I'd love for all involved to appear to be hurting from defeat and not just say, well we can learn from this.

What a refreshingly blunt and eloquent post.
But I would say that since I am not a RH fan.
I do however have a lot of time for Carl ...he is Mr Dons through and through and it wouldn't surprise me if he didn't do most of the recruitment.
If this is the case then one could argue the balance of the recruitment is off.
Carl reckons we have a pack to fear .. I disagree.
My biggest grumble apart from having a side too small is organisation on the park. Just where are the slick moves that are the brainchild of our coach?
It looks like we have an overall plan, but that the ethos is one of spontaneity.
Too random for me ...
I see sides come to the Keepmoat that have far better structure.

Then to trot out platitudes after defeat caps it for me.
All that matters is that we correct defects and visibly improve with our structure.

We are losing because we have poor structure, poor planning, poor discipline and poor conversion rates.
A better coach would whip that team into a more efficient unit.
We really can't have players of schoolboy stature in the side either ... and we do.
It's a rough tough game ...
Enough!

I don't think the whole club Doncaster thing has worked at all, yes it is keeping the club afloat, but the Dons always seem, to me, to be an afterthought. Playing home games out of Doncaster does little to encourage new fans. Yes the Barrow game had a decent crowd, but I expect today's to be a bit different. Not sure what the alternative is, if there is one, but without Carl Hall the Dons would not be still competing, of that I'm sure. Anyway back to to oblivion.

A few months ago a certain frequent Doncaster Rovers poster on their Viking chat room was really unhappy that Club Doncaster were paying the Dons players £600 per week for doing nothing, thus in his view depriving the Rovers of crucial funds. I have no way of knowing if that figure is correct but that sum is not an afterthought IMO.

It was Carl Hall who approached GB with the idea of Club Doncaster rescuing the Dons after the consortium at that time ran out of funds. The lack of real progress on the pitch (promotion) is the frustration that drives the attack on Club Doncaster.

No Club Doncaster = No Dons.

Without the involvement of a lot of people in the past there wouldn't have been a Dons club for Carl Hall to be the CEO

Quite true. We should all be grateful to everyone who has contributed something to the club both past and present.

I do fear that without Club Doncaster though we may not have semi-pro rugby in Doncaster right now.
