i disagree with that sentiment seagull - because the news was relatively underwhelming generating such a PR stir about an announcement was the only way to get fans to hang around afterwards, and as a result a greater number than you'd expect were there to be given all the leaflets trying to encourage you to join the scheme - what else could they do? tell everyone what the announcement would be beforehand and watch them finish their beers on the final hooter and head off home?
they took advantage of the fact that the fans know certain big stories are in the pipeline for the club and so fans would turn up for the announcement. lets just hope they don't pull the stunt too often as it might start to hack fans off
