9's Information : Wed Jul 14, 2010 3:05 pm
Help from Panthers fans. Can anyone tell me the best way to get to the union stadium for the 9's tournament? I will be staying on Queens Parade and will probably be travelling by tram - if that is possible. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Tram service comes no where near lytham. Best thing is to get train from one of the blackpool train stations and get a train to Ansdell & Fairhaven station. The station is a 2 minute walk to the ground. Hope this helps

Brad Fitler "If the ref's decision decides your game. You haven't done enough prior."

Referees are like women, they make snap decisions and never reverse them.

You need to get the train from Blackpool South or Pleasure Beach stations to Ansdell

Thanks to both. Not the reply I was hoping for, but thanks anyway. Looking forward to visiting Blackpool and the final on Sunday.

Thanks again.

Location
The Borough of Blackpool (well, close enough)

Forget the tram, part of the network is shut at the mo and even then it wouldn't get you anywhere near.

If you're on the Prom, get the #1 to Starr Gate and then switch to the #7 (you'll need to get off the 1 before it turns inland to Blackpol Airport).

The 7 takes you to Ansdell footbridge which takes you over the railway from where it's 5 mins walk to the ground.

Alternatively, stay on the #1 another couple of stops to Squires Gate Station and get the train to Ansdell & Fairhaven, which is 5-7 minutes walk from the ground (Kev B is quick  ).

Blackpool Transport's website is pretty good for buses:

http://www.blackpooltransport.co.uk/index.html

If you're on Queens Prom at North Shore you'll need to allow a good 60 or so minutes travelling time, the bus ain't quick!

If you do catch the train pair up with a mate and ask for a Duo ticket to Ansdell. It's £3 each from Blackpool South if you pay on your own. If you get a duo it's £4.50 for both of you. Saves £1.50 towards the first round.

Would also recommend if you like real ale turning right out of the station first and calling at the Fairhaven first which does a much better jar than either the Blossoms or Woodlands IMO.

Re: 9's Information : Wed Jul 14, 2010 11:00 pm
Thanks again to all of you for the amount of info. Some conflicting suggestions, but all will be noted. (Incidentally, there will be two of us), One other thing, is there a good pub in the Queens Parade area that is likely to show the game? The Old England, The Golden Eagle and Last Orders are 3D venues, but not bothered about 3D, just want to see Wigan and Wire. Looking forward to a great week-end's League in the town where I believe the Magic Weekend should be held every year. Hope all you local League fans will lobby for that.

Thanks again; usual help from the Rugby League Family.

Avoid most of them pubs and you will be fine. Lol. Best place if you want a good pint from what I can see on Sky's site is head to Poulton Le Fylde and watch it there.

If you go for the bus option check on the site already mentioned for Blackpool buses as if you get a day ticket from a listed shop which does Paypoint you can go anywhere all day for £3. Same ticket purchased on the bus is a quid more.

Conflicting info is probably cos some of us live near train station to Ansdell some don't.

Cave, gotta disagree, the ale is kept in far better condition in the blossoms. John looks after it and he learnt the ways at the taps. Nigel never seems to care about the ale in the fairy
