World Record Scrum Attempt ... Can You Help ? : Sun May 20, 2012 8:56 pm
Ever fancied being ‘World Record Holder’ ? Then now is your chance ….
On Saturday 26th May (that’s this coming Saturday) and as part of a charity fun day at Leeds, there is going to be an attempt to break the ‘World Record’ for the biggest Rugby Scrum in the world.
Currently, the existing world record stands at just over 200 participants and with your help, we can easily smash that record.
Where it is : Meet behind the South Stand at Headingley in Leeds for 09.30 on Saturday morning
There will be a quick practice on the car park and then actual record attempt, in the full view of the media (TV etc.) will actually take place on the legendary Headingley Pitch
Will it cost me anything to take part ? Whilst this is one of a number of fun day and charity activities taking part, it won’t actually cost you anything to take part in the record attempt
Are there any other incentives ? Each participant will get a t-shirt ALSO, since there are a large number of amateur clubs taking part, for the club that brings the most number of participants, Leeds Rhinos have offered a set of Post Protectors (which apparently aren’t cheap) to the club that provides the most number of participants.
It is understood that since some of the Leeds players are going to be in attendance at the Fun Day, some (or even all) of them will be packing down with you as part of the record attempt.
What do I have to wear ? Whilst you can participate in more or less anything, it would be appreciated if you could ‘make an effort’ and turn up in rugby jerseys of any colours, shorts, socks and even boots are an option.
Surely, this is just for the blokes then ? Of course not, in the days of increased female rugby participation, if the ladies want to come and ‘pack down’ with the rest of us, then you’re more than welcome !
You’d we welcome to stay on for the Fun Day afterwards (I understand participation will allow you to get a discount on the zip wire off the Stand too !) or leave after the scrum.
NB – Please note I am not organizing this event, but I am just putting this on here to pass out the message. I understand that you might be taking full part in the Magic Weekend in Manchester, but if you’re not thinking about going or are not watching a game over there until the Sunday, then this is an excellent chance to become a world record holder.
If there are any more questions you need, please drop me a PM and I will put you in touch with the organizers to assist you.
