There's a sense of anticipation around the town of Doncaster as Dons' fans and supporters will finally be able to see star signing Paul Cooke in action at the Keepmoat Stadium (3pm kick-off). York City Knights are in town on Sunday afternoon and it promises to be enthralling encounter in round two of the Northern Rail Cup.
Both the Dons and Knights first round fixtures were postponed at the weekend and the Dons are due to meet Gateshead Thunder in their rearranged game tomorrow night (Wednesday - 8pm kick-off).
There are a couple of former Dons in the Knights line up in Alex Benson and Hull FC's Chris Green who has recently signed a dual registration for the Championship club.
Cooke will also come up against former Hull FC and Wakefield teammate Paul King who both played for the black and whites for more than twenty years in total.
"I'm really looking forward to Sunday's game and I'll be playing against a few familiar faces which should be good." said Cooke.
"The Keepmoat is a great stadium and our fans are both loud and passionate about their rugby which should create a good atmosphere as I'm sure York will bring a few (fans) with them.
"We're expecting a tough game against the Knights; they've assembled a strong squad this season and will be a well-drilled outfit.
"We've had a good pre-season, we've trained hard since China's (Dean Colton) testimonial game and we'll be looking to have a successful run in the group stages of the Northern Rail Cup."
