Maybe if these "proper" consoles were a little more popular, people would develop for them rather than the most popular home console in the world.

Lowering prices is a good start, let's get some decent games on them now...

Or maybe if these "proper" consoles where very cheap for little kids and people who cant afford a better console then maybe it would be available to the people with loads of money and a better class of living
Not to mention some of the best games ever made.

You still can't get the true experience of Resident Evil 4: Wii edition on any other console.

I don't have loads of money, but I certainly have a decent class of living, and I've certainly learnt not to be so selfish as to have the "Pull the ladder up, Jack, I'm alright" attitude that XBOX360 & PS3 owners tend to have.

It would be unfair to say they're all like that, of course. But in this thread, I've seen a lot of posts from people who have this blinkered opinion that the Wii is a "lesser" console, despite the fact that it's dominating the home console market, and is home to some incredible games.

No, THIS is the stupidest post:

hope this RL2 port goes well so they can have another crack at a proper console.

And the reason is, Mario earlier posted this:

Nowt like Common Sense. Try using some.

lets face it would be a better game though would be brought out on the xbox ps3 as the graphics are better more info can be held on the game etc.

But then again the market is not big for rl game so making it the cheapest way possible is the right idea i think shame though but then again i can always buy it for the wii and dust it off

Well, the PS3 might be better graphically, but as far as I'm concerned it's all about the playability. It was in the days of Spectrum vs. Commodore 64, and it still is now, it's all about making the best of the hardware available. As I've said, if the PS3 wasn't so darn expensive and had some better cheaper titles for it, maybe it would be as popular as the Wii or 360. Unfortunately they've taken the "Elitist" route, and haven't got anything like the foothold they had on the market. It's how the world works. Making games for the most popular console is the most logical and intelligent step any games company can take, if you're going to make an exclusive release capture the biggest market you can.

But then again the market is not big for rl game so making it the cheapest way possible is the right idea i think shame though but then again i can always buy it for the wii and dust it off

Making a game for the Wii isn't necessarily the cheapest way. Just because a console is "better" doesn't mean it's automatically more expensive to develop for it. I don't know what the cost is of licensing, but for R&D purposes, the unique control systems of the Wii would probably be the more expensive and time-consuming to work with.

It's all about the end-market.

United Kingdom - Based on figures from GfK Chart-Track, as of 3 January 2009

1. Wii – 4.9 million
2. Xbox 360 – 3.2 million
3. PlayStation 3 - 1.5 million

And for handhelds -

1. Nintendo DS – 8.8 million
2. PlayStation Portable – 3.2 million

Which is why development on the Wii and DS is more popular than any other format. Which is why there are MORE games on Wii and DS than any other format. And although there's a large quantity of crap coming out for Wii and DS, the number of OUTSTANDING titles is still larger than any other format.

Nintendo have only done what Sony did years ago... deliver a good console that isn't as powerful as other consoles around at the time, but has a large library of games at decent prices, with a hell of a lot of "killer apps", and exclusives.

My final comment on this is that I do hope to own a PS3 at some point. I have nothing against the PS3, or XBOX360, and I totally appreciate what the PS3 is capable of. But combine the state of the economy and the state of the console market, and I'll probably hold out a little longer until the PS3 is almost a dead format and pick one up really cheap, just like I did with the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast.

I don't think Sidhe do a bad job with the RL games I just wish they would make the RL games on a yearly basis (like fifa and madden) rather then having to wait three or four years for a new game to come out, also a PS3 and a 360 release would be nice. :D

I am very lucky in that I own a wii and a PS3 but why people are dissing either is beyond me, The wii cant compete with the ps3 graphics wise which is obvious , however the ps3 cannot compete with the wii interactively which again is obvious.

Both consoles have their strength and weakness but releasing RL for the wii is a very good move IMO, the game type lends itself to the wii's interactive wireless technology where the player can be fully involved in the gameplay.

I would love it to be released on PS3 in the future but I suppose Sidhe would like to firstly see sales figures ect before investing any other money or time into it, it's upto RL fans to get out there and prove there is a market for sports games other than Footie, buy the game and then rate it highly on the gamer sites and stop knocking the one company that at least tries to give league fans a decent console game to play.

Well done in my book and keep up the good work

Wahey, a really sensible post! Absolutely damn right, the sales in volume are only going to be on the Wii as a starting point, if every Wii-owning RL fan bought the game, there'd be a much better chance of it coming out on PS3 or Xbox360.

But like I said elsewhere, the game needs to be good, I wouldn't expect people to buy a tosh game just because it's Rugby League.

What isn't going to work is to say "I'm not buying it on the Wii, even though I have one, because I want it to come out on the PS3." Sidhe won't be able to afford it, it'll never happen.

Although I'd rather see a PC version than a PS3 one.
