In last week's League Express, there was a letter from me about how the mental health of some players may suffer when they stop playing the game, when referees stop refereeing the game and most frequently when older supporters become even older.
My suggestion to help stop or slow down this happening, is to start writing a novel based generally on your own life, your family and family history, employment, home town and rugby league connections. Most people who I have said this to, have said that it seemed quite a good idea worth trying but really they did not know how to do it. For the benefit of such people, I have now also written three pages of advice. I an in a good position to do this because since starting to write my first novel in 1988 as a hobby while working for the CEGB as an electrical draughtsman I have written half a million words in six novels in a series that is set between 1962 and 2008. If you would like me to send you these sheets, contact me at wgeofflee@gmail.com and ask for Geoff's RL writers notes. However if you prefer to read one of my novels first or maybe buy one as a Christmas gift for someone who likes a good laugh then I suggest that you purchase a copy of my latest novel. It is called "Three Good Years" and is set between 2006 and 2008 against a background of Work, Family Life, Saving the NHS and Rugby League.
