Thanks, I managed to escape the wife for a while & am listening to the game on radio. Unlucky for the young Widnes debutante.

Sounds like Rovers are handing over easy possession with schoolboy errors which they need to cut right out.

What’s with the strategy of playing Lee out of position at S/H for the majority of the game and keeping a natural 1/2 back on the bench until the 72nd minute? I don’t get it, it’s a waste of a rotation spot for me.

It sounded like a poor spectacle for those that went. The result could have been much worse had Widnes not lost all their bench with 30 to go. But any 2 points are welcome, lots of areas to improve on.

At this moment, the win is probably the most important thing .

Apparently Blair was outstanding, Carney played well.

Don't know where to start after that? Some rank amateur play and some really good stuff mixed in.The win was all that mattered. Made it much harder than it needed to be,Sheens will be fizzing after that id say? Stupid penalties, sloppy end of sets but a couple of superb tries. Lots to work on again but as a fan im happy with the 2pts..

PROUD TO BE A ROBIN!

Re: Widnes H : Sat Apr 07, 2018 7:54 pm
Sorry to bang on about the subject, but tonight was (for me) the final nail in Matty Marsh`s coffin. Tommy Lee has not played half back since he was at Gateshull, and STILL played a more expansive game then him. Enough about him,

Heffernan- needs to retire from the game as i feel he is too risky with the amount of head knocks he keeps getting, very similar to Darrel Goulding, shame really but we cannot afford to carry a player who is prone to injuries like this.

Bobby Blair played like he should do, ran hard, tackled harder- end of subject that is his game.

Dagger- In the long term, he has the ability to oust Quinlan and nail down the No1 spot for himself, solid under the high ball and a threat in attack.

Masoe- He is doing all that is asked of him, carries strong and defends well (in a good team he would be excellent)

Tickle- Cannot work this kid out, he can be turd one minute, then score a great try the next!

McGuire- We all know about him, but yet still oouzes class. Fantasic signing and missd dearly when not playing.

Im not getting too carried away as Widnes were slightly worse than us, however, this could of been a game we could easily have lost.

MIKE SMITH- THE BEST CENTRE HULL HAS EVER MADE!

Re: Widnes H : Sat Apr 07, 2018 8:29 pm
widnes are in the same boat as us in most respects, occasionally turn in really good performances , not tonight though , carney , blair, mosoe, once again our top performers,a shame for Heffernan .classy centre but needs some advice, and honesty himself regarding his ability to play this tough game at top level no doubting his ability, but must consider his own health

That's terrible for widnes. Their injuries have been horrendous now for about 3 years and you have to question how much of that is down to playing on that pitch every other week

Widnes have a huge home advantage which really shouldn't be allowed. They have plenty of squad players but not enough real quality, not unlike us in some respects but who would you take out of their squad over ours? Hanbury maybe but seems quiet this season? White I like so him above Lee I'd say? Mellor I'd like to see behind a good pack .hemmaroid decent cover. Inu is class but injury prone but rest are jobbers. Thursdays tv game should be interesting
