It always amazes me that so many FC fans allow their hatred of Rovers and our ground to stop them supporting their team.

Just cannot understand such a twisted mentality.

it's quite simple, many FC fans have higher standards than to travel East of the river, and certainly not to caravan park.

So by your own admission, your support for your team depends on the standard of the opposing teams ground.
I guess that explains why Hull FC have so many armchair supporters.
Real supporters like me, plus thousands of other Rovers supporters have travelled the lengh and breadth of the country in all weather, including heavy snow during winter rugby. Some of the grounds we've travelled to in the past wouldn't even be classed suitable for sheep never mind players and fans. No cover, no real toilets, no bars and in some cases little grass on the playing surface are just some of the things we have had to put up with, I include the old Boulevard to some extent in that summing up of old grounds.
Basically, as a supporter, the team comes first and the playing venue second.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

You obviously arent very old or you would remember the threepenny stand where supporters used to stand and pee where they were stood ,so if you walked behind the stand you got soaked.Mind you maybe thats high standards in west hull.

Great days wonderful memories.

I think the Boulevard must have been the first ground to have water features installed at the back of one of the main stands.

Re: Derby Feb1 : Tue Feb 05, 2019 7:46 am
Hull FC occupy the KCOM Stadium by the virtue of an accident of geography. How many millions would it have cost to bring the Boulevard up to standard which in all honesty was a slum in parts? If reports from a few years were correct Adam Pearson wanted to move Hull FC into their own stadium and the prefered location was the old Birds Eye factory on Hessle High Road and he was trawling around looking for investors. The cost of course was astronomical. The North Stand at Craven Park cost around £8 million and that was over 5 years ago. So four similar stands would cost £32 million for a capacity of circa 8,000 if it were to be all seated; more if not all seated. And that's at the prices of over 5 years ago. I don't think that Hull FC are in a good place financially at the moment hence their lack of quality recruitment and their retention of players in 2018. The hospitality facilities at Craven Park compare favourably with other Rugby League stadiums.
