Depends what ‘it’ is. After the last few years many might say that a serious challenge for top 8 in SL would be a big stride forward. I might be one of them, tbf.
To me it feels like when we’ve had a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve we’ve done a pretty good job of reaching our goals. Under Morgan and our first two seasons after Sheens took over. During the Sandercock-Chester-Peacock era we lacked direction or impetus or... something.
Sadly, I think this season has been a bit after the lord mayor’s parade following the (actually pretty tortuous, if successful and cathartic) promotion and survival campaigns. What we’ve lacked more than anything is props, but a couple of bright moments aside it has been flat. That worries me - London have a target they can be excited about trying to hit. For us it feels like another long trudge, and it will be tougher to get and stay motivated for the relegation battle.
