'Thus I am tormented by my curiosity and humbled by my ignorance.' from History of an Old Bramin, The New York Mirror (A Weekly Journal Devoted to Literature and the Fine Arts), February 16th 1833.
We've had some feedback regarding moderation today. Always welcome, especially when the advice is amusingly varied. Apologies for not replying to you all individually.
A few small points worth mentioning, all of them reflecting an entirely personal viewpoint.
1. Trolling in small doses can be fine, desirable even. It can provoke debate. Really good or really rubbish trolls can be a problem, due to the reaction they get - then it's banning them or banning everybody else. Common sense trumps rigid application of the rules. If it wasn't a troll it'd be different. 2. Spam or single issue trolling gets wearisome, and just provokes. 3. Insults shouldn't be too harsh. Poor little duller, and ball bag are within tolerances for a troll. Regular reminders that my parents are close blood relations, and that I'm a bin dipper or a dick from the east doesn't put me off going on the Hull forum. Them winning the cup and us getting relegated, is what puts me off. 4. Being weird or pretending to be something your not isn't necessarily against the AUP. I present in evidence Man-goose. 5. This board would benefit from an additional moderator. I sounded out a couple of sensible posters, but being sensible they declined.
As way we're way off topic, I'm tempted to lock this.
Maybe it is worth opening up for sensible discussion though - as it is the off-season and that.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Is "prize c**t" on the list of insults that are tolerated? (see page 2).

I don't really understand what your beef is here?
I mean look at the post above yours and try to explain why that doesn't deserve derision. It's a completely attention seeking post from a known Hull FC fan pretending to be an idiot Rovers fan. This fact was established weeks ago by an IP check by a moderator, who then told the pretend poster of this yet they still persist with their ridiculous charade.

That was my point. If you all know he's a troll, why do you all respond and 'feed' them further? Bites are what they're after isn't it.
My beef is with the site in general really and the inconsistencies in the moderating, it's becoming like the HDM comments section or Facebook. Their posts do deserve derision, there are waaay too many emojis in there for a start, but I'm sure people have more wit and inventiveness to do so without resorting to petty name calling. Letting the name calling and people writing "c**t" go just sets a precedent that's its acceptable
