I think the reason why most SL clubs are not prepared take a punt on these type of players is that it´s too much of a gamble to use up a quota space on unproven players.

No, you're correct, they'll be non fed though I think.
I gave up trying to understand all this years ago, I've sub contracted it to Mild Rover, Anakin Skywalker and Sheldon to understand on my behalf.
