Lamport Stadium is owned by the city of Toronto. It's been around for a while. Not the fanciest stadium in the world, but it's the ideal venue for this city and attracts supporters for different reasons than personal comfort. It's very close to downtown and served by two streetcar (tram) routes and a suburban train station. No need to drive, so you can enjoy the craft beer garden. The atmosphere is easygoing and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. There are five big pubs close by. It's a short walk to BMO Field where Toronto FC and the Toronto Argos (CFL) play.
Many of the supporters are younger adults and a lot of families come out.
Yes, the VIP section is just a couple of tents and we'd get wet if it rained, but so far neither of those issues have bothered the fans.
Early last year, the city replaced the playing surface and upgraded it to 4G artificial turf. Any future renovations would have to be worked out with the city ... let's see where that goes.
