Another way to look at it is where would we be now if we hadn't had that crazy 2 minutes in MPG? That relegation has probably set us back a few year again despite all the talk of getting rid of bad eggs etc?
Looking at Cas and Wakey I'd suggest they spend less or similar to us but have had relative success last few year. Our fans have been very loyal through all this but a bit of success on the pitch would make boards life easier and bring a few more floaters back.We need to speculate to accumulate but as newly promoted side again and also rumoured format changes who could splash the cash with any certainty? I agree we are at a pivotal period of the club but have every faith in The Hudge and RC.Would be nice to see them get some sort of return for their hard work and cash.

Re: Where are we headed? : Mon Mar 05, 2018 5:51 pm
I slightly disagree about the relegation Craig.
On the playing side I agree with you. It's more the off field I think it helped the club. As I feel for a while before it became slightly complacent and were just drifting, and the relegation helped to refocus the club. And take a step forward.

The problem with not knowing what the format is no one is going to put money in if in a year or so they're not going to be getting what they were offered. Because it's changed through no fault of the club. When we finally know what's happening, then we can focus on getting newer investment in.

As for your point Mild,
I feel it's dependent on ambitions. If we're happy with the club being a middle SL side, then I think we are viable and will be for a few more years. If we want more, than I think the only real way we can achieve that is by outside investment which rests on the problems in the paragraph above. I think that at this moment the future's not that bad, we've achieved a level of viability that goes with were the club is.
The problem becomes if in the new format we're not in SL, and with little chance of getting back (ie franchising). Which will see us lose some sponsorship, and attendence levels will drop again. Then the club will fall back towards what it was back 15/20 years ago. Though hopefully not as bad.
Especially as we face the unique problem of having another club in the same city, that will probably still be in SL. If you throw in the football club, potential investors and sponsors have a choice. And as we know, they would put there faith in something successful.

Aye there is no way of knowing one way or other? Think a few wins on pitch would go a fair way in getting us all a bit more upbeat

Luke, yeah Wakefield and Cas seem to have found a way. Stepping down a level cuts costs but cuts income too. There’s certainly no easy solution.

Craig, I agree about getting some wins. Promotion laid a few ghosts to rest but I think there’s still a sense of pessimism. Every time we’re linked with or sign a player, there’s a tendency to draw parallels with a bad signing from the last few years - there’s one for every occasion after all. 3 scores up against Catalans, I couldn’t relax until the last 5 minutes. I’m dreading a trio of derby drubbings. A few good results should sort it, I hope. Mind you Hull fans still seem to find stuff to whinge about.

I was the same against cats couldn't relax saying that I was like that in our 42-6 win against Hull at 26-0 I was saying just one more try and I can relax

Agree with you both. A couple of wins or at least performances and we'll all be a bit more upbeat. I thought at the start of the season we'd be in the middle 8's. Because of us being newly promoted, and because in my opinion there are still some players in the squad I just don't think are good enough. And nothing so far caused me to change my mind.
Next off season should we stay up will tell us where the club think there heading. We have a potential fairly competitive side, and couple of quality signings will push us on. Sign players that we've already got the like in the squad then I'd be more worried.

As for feeling confident in a game, I learnt my lesson in the 90 league 1 premiership final, 29 - 6 up, 20 mins to go. Yeah we've got this.
How wrong I was, now I wait till about 5 mins till the end to start thinking we could win.

As for the derbies. Because I've lived away from Hull for 20 years, so miss all the build up. And because there's so many of them and have been for the last 10 years or so. Oh and i expect us to lose them more often than not. They really don't bother me as much. As long as they put in the performance/effort that's fine with me.

Another multiple. Look at join date and time and it coincides with a few other accounts, one masquerading as a KR fan again. Same lunatic who used to spam the HDM.
