PROUD TO BE A ROBIN!

A quick breakdown of this seasons new signings : Mon Apr 04, 2016 1:02 pm
Minns- Cannot really comment as game time has been bare

Clarkson- Really like this kid, work ethic is second to none, a real 80 minute player.

Mulhern- Really impressed me in the last 3 games, runs hard, and gets a quick play the ball. Defence is adequate

Thornley- First few games I thought "oh no not another big time Charlie who is lazy", but again the last 3 games has shown why he was so well thought of at Wigan, made Watkins look amateur against Leeds.

Greenwood- Last season I thought "just another run of the mill prop who does the basics right", this season I think he`s been our best forward in attack. This kid will go far (all in my opinion of course)!

Shaw- Stared slow, but gradually started showing some good rugby before his unfortunate injury.

G.Lawler- Although not a new signing, he came under the radar. Again I think this kid shows skills and has the attitude someone 5 years older. A good level headed kid who will only get better, only problem is what position is he?

W.Oakes- Only seen him on Academy highlights. Excellent finisher. Heard from a source well in with the England academy set up that he is the best winger in the country in his age group, and 5 clubs offered him a senior contract.

Hull kingston rovers.

A pretty fair assessment I would say.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.

Agree also with the above viewpoints. From what I have seen of Thomas Minns so far, he looks a great prospect and a fine attacking centre. Both he and Thornley are definite major upgrades on Salter (who I have never rated) and the Kris Welham 2012-2014 vintage but on a par or slightly better than his 2015 iteration.

Greenwood and Mulhern are showing the real value of confidence through prolonged game time. Greenwood also a good second row option. Greenwood offers great mobility, is a good support runner, clever offloader with a quick ptb. Also a fantastic work ethic in attack and defence. Highly impressed with him. Leeds kept Baldwinson but keep farming him out to Fev. Mulhern must be secretly chuffed.

Finally, but ever so slightly off topic, Tilse and Allgood worked their socks off against Leeds and Wigan and along with Walker have led by example in recent games.

I also agree it's also a fair report so far, But I don't agree with Salter being a poor centre he is a rock in defence & very dependable, will he gets a look in (when fit) though as Minns & Thornley are playing well. Agree Allgood is now coming into some form & Tilse has replaced Jason Netherton as duty scapegoat? with some people he will never be any good as he has had a couple of below par games despite the stats proving that to be incorrect. What has impressed me is that they are becoming a team despite the disruption & it brings joy to see some very young prospects stepping up to the mark.

I never understood the criticism of Greenwood last year, after his first 2 games settling in I thought he looked to have a hell of a lot of potential and was concerned we might miss out on signing what could be one of our better players.

I also said at the beginning of the year he could be a solution to our 2nd row problems, looks like that is coming into fruition.

Salter may be a very good defensive centre but I think centres need to offer a lot in attack as well and this is an area where he doesn't do well in. Good back up but not a starting 13 centre.

Greenwood was a bit of a penalty machine last season but was really glad we signed him he just has to convince his brother to sign now :D and I can't see salter lasting much longer he just doesn't score enough tries

Agree that Salter lacks the necessary attacking flair. Good in defence only but players in this position need to offer more nowadays. If Minns kicks on, he is toast.
