Lachlan Coote : Sat Jul 03, 2021 9:10 am
Very quiet on her at the moment, but here is something to discuss, if anyone wants to, apparently we have signed him. If this is true I'm not sure how I feel about this. This must mean Quinlan is leaving, which I have mixed opinions about, Adam Quinlan and has been unlucky with injuries, and is a great attacking full back and Is Coote a step up and what we already have and real quality? Saints fans seem to think he is not what he was and has lost pace, but we have to trust TS and DM in their choice who know a lot more than me, plus he can kick goals. I assume this takes a quota spot, but where does that leave us with options of another big forward which we really do need. Plus where does that leave Dagger? The fact we are looking at this type of signing brings home how we are perceived by players which is a big step. Got to be happy so far, lets keep it going.

Quinlan has been an excellent servant over the last 5 seasons, but I reckon he’s missed a good 40% of games due to a variety of injuries since 2017.

Coote is a great player. Talk of him losing pace is about 5 years too late. If we were to get him, I’d consider it a significant upgrade on AQ.

I’ve really enjoyed watching AQ - there’s not many overseas players who’ve stayed with us 5 years since the batch Morgan signed. Maybe not any others and not that many players full stop. Wish him all the best, and all that.

These decisions are made weeks and months before we hear anything, at least in terms of starting processes. It’s possibly unfortunate that he started the season with some indifferent form off the back of an injury last year.

Coote has looked pretty good when I’ve seen him for Saints, even allowing for it being Saints. We’ll have a few backs getting old together but the most important season in 2022 is the 2022 season.

Has he actually signed, nothing to confirm this has come from the club?

No, there’s been no confirmation.

Excellent signing, settled here in UK so none of the 'homesickness' excuse to leave. A useful team being assembled for next season. Still hopeful for this season though!
