Keighley Cougars v Whitehaven this Sunday 7th Feb 2010 : Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:18 pm
Are many Cumbrians making the trip down to Yorkshire to take on what the Inland Revenue couldn't take away at Cougar Park?
The journey is about 80 miles, I would recommend the A65 route rather than the M6. There are plenty of places to eat close to the ground depending on what you fancy. There is a McDonalds and KFC over the road. If you like a Sunday diner before the match there are a couple of places worth considering. http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/40893/ The Beaches hotel on the above link do a very good Carverey and they can cope well with large numbers. (Beer not as cheap as Cougar park.) If you like the nice country pub feel then I recommend the Keighley District pub of the year that is just 4.5 miles short of the ground as you come from Skipton Direction. The pub is The Old White Bear, Crosshills. (Keighley Pub of the Year) http://www.thomsonlocal.com/Old-White-B ... yinfo.html The Old White Bear do a Carverey at a very similar price to Beaches. It is a small Country Pub, so maybe not ideal for coach loads but if you like the quiet pub This is a cracker. (Beer is however far cheaper in the Hall of Fame Bar at Cougars.) This is a great test for both teams and we look forward to sharing a beer with you before and hopefully a great game. Safe journey |
