Hi,

Has anyone heard who is leaving the dragons a mate of mine who knows an agent has said that one of the dragons french players has or is about to sign for Castres for quite a large sum of money all i know is that the deal is being hushed up (cannot be that hushed up if i have heard about it) and that its a forward and not a back.

I really do not want them to start losing local players.

Anyone else heard about this?

I'll be honest, he hasn't done it for the last 12 months, he spends more time on the injury table than on the field so I wouldn't be too upset to see him go!

He'll be back after draining some coffers.

That is the wonderful thing about these transfers.

They accord with our traditional view on such matters (the free gangway), they help to illustrate the gulf between the codes in so far as the on-field games are concerned and they drain a bit of union money at the same time.



More the merrier I say.

As to Fakir specifically, I think it is a shame he has gone.

What it does do is illustrate how an Australian coach with no clue of French rugby league (ie. Walters) can make poor recruitment decisions and allow a French international to go...

If Catalans had a French coach grounded in the French game, the nationality of players would be a more of a factor. Certainly there would be a greater emphasis on retaining French Test players as opposed to overpaid NRL rejects with Aussie citizenship.
