The expectation level was high, justifiably so. He didn't live up to those expectations. No wonder the fans weren't chuffed. I know I wasn't.

I think the fans were never convinced he was the real deal - he didn't fulfil his ability but I think he was given a raw deal from the more fickle Catalan fans

I don't agree, he was never more than a squad player, no where near the hype or salary.

am following both (but on tv!)

Vuelta has been amazing this year. The weather for the ToB not so much. You could almost see the continental pros riding through the Swansea rain and murk thinking " I could be getting an end of season tan in Spain" ...
