I feel that the ban was too harsh. What Acton did was stupid, reckless and dangerous, but at the end of the day, the only injured player was the one who Bird collided with. Of course Acton should have been banned - he may have had suspicions about whether Bird was injured, but couldn't possibly have known for certain.
My big gripe - and probably yours too- is the inconsistency of punishments meted out by the disciplinary body. In the game following our visit to Catalans (at Warrington) our winger Adam Higson was hit by a high shot. He stayed down, on his face and a Warrington player, after a moment's hesitation, dived forcibly into a prone Higson's back. Now, it turned out that Higson wasn't badly injured, but did the Warrington player know that? What could have been the consequences, had Higson been suffering a head injury? And the outcome of this similar incident? Why, nothing of course, not even a citing! However, had it been Acton....................................!!
