Crusaders have issued statements saying they are not going bust.
The rfl have said virtually the same and they are helping Crusaders through the difficult first season. What business do Widnes fans have on here other than that?
None as far as I can see.
They didn't stop whinging when I was on their site laughing at their plight but they come on here funnily enough roughly around the time of rumours of us going into admin and they get all self defensive. Awww bless em.
I didn't notice them helping Leigh through their "difficult first season" in SDL, did you?
Well, I havent posted on this board before, but gonna have my 2 peneth anyway! For what its worth, I cant honestly see how anybody can say that Celtic were the best contenders to enter SL. I think that it would have been better, for both the club and the game, for it to be left until the next licence applications when the club would be better established. What gets to me is that you dont abide by the same rules as the rest of us ie overseas quota (and, yes, I did say the same thing about Catalans a few years back!). I know that the RFL wanted the presence in Wales, and i have no problem with that at all, I just think that it was a few years too early.
And now onto the sublect of players - could one of you please explain to me why you are letting the only player in your squad go who makes chances in a game??? When Duggan is out injured, as he is at the moment, you have no structure or penentration apart from the kick over the top. Please try to make me understand why you have come to this decision as it is baffling me!!

Bully for them.

Why don't you ask the same question of the fans of Hull KR, Wigan, Leigh, Halifax etc who have aired their opinion on the matter both on here and other boards? The fact is, we're an easy target for your bile no matter how many fans of other club's question your clubs validity.

You truly are a weapons grade moron and your obsession with us Widnes fans borders on obsessive.
it stinks, you dont see the rfl rushin gin to help doncaster do you!! in the so called difficult times...
They very probably did but there isn't the business interest in Doncaster to support the club financially. Doncaster have been in and out of financial trouble virtually since they began (that was in the 1930s wasn't it?). The RFL is only offering advice, just as it did to Catalans and also would do to any club who needed it. They have a good team of advisers to offer advice. They are not offering cash.

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

If that is the case , surely they would have been advising Celtic , Doncaster and all the other clubs before now
Why offer advice after , why not offer advice before
This is like groudhog day, whatever is happening to Crusaders people will have an opinion on.
Three comments:
People don't accept the reason we got a licence - most have the sense to see that's the RFL not us - comments about the rights or wrongs designed to provoke fans do not help
We've not doing as well as we'd planned to up to this point - would be a bit silly to deny it but surely getting support and keeping at it is better than folding - most reasonable people seem to agree and there are those who will say I told you so.
See you all tomorrow on this board (or one of many others) when someone starts the same thread again
Thank you to all the Widnes fans and others who have wished us luck and surely there are more important things to do than wind each other up day in day out. Can we all move on now?

Or maybe you are just talking Bollox
Before insulting me, maybe you should read up on what the RFL is about and what it has at its disposal. Also, reading the link I gave earlier in the thread might also help. The RFL has a team of experienced people specific to the job of advising and enabling clubs on recruitment, publicity, obtaining sponsorship, dealing with the salary cap, etc.
Doncaster is in a rubbish place for rugby league. Read RL history. It has never attracted local business. Gateshead Thunder are doing a better job. That will be at least in part to do with Doncaster being in a rubbish place where RL is concerned. No-one is fecking interested in Doncaster, business-wise, and that is Doncaster's problem. That does not mean there won't be local businesses interested in the Crusaders. You've already probably done better than Doncaster in catching Brains. The key is, to catch more of the same. And the RFL have stepped in to help in that process.
What on earth is so awful about that?
And, as it says in the link I provided, the RFL provided exactly the same kind of support to Catalans Dragons during their first season in SL. Look where they are now. But the Dragons aren't the only club to receive such support and such support isn't only offered to expansion clubs. Read up, do your homework before having a go at me. You might find you have to eat your own words.

You do realise that I am a Leigh fan
Yes they do and no doubt they have been advising Celtic for the last 3 years
Doesn't look like they have done much of a job does it ?
So Gateshead are doing a better job are they ?
They looked and sounded very similar to Celtic the other week when they played down at ours
Ex NRL players all funded by 300/400 fans
Think what they could do with 2/3,000 fans , you and Leeds are in big trouble when they go up in 2012
Yup. Why else would you be having a go at the Crusaders? (Unless you were a Fax, Widnes, Featherstone fan)
Yes they do and no doubt they have been advising Celtic for the last 3 years
Not sure since this has been announced as a new development. I think Celtic were doing fine in the Championship but Superleague - as Leigh may discover if it ever gets here - is a different beast altogether.
So Gateshead are doing a better job are they ?
Yup. I went there for the recent CC round. They had 4,500 crowd, of which we were about 1,500. Me and lots of other Saints fans had conversations with locals about the match - they were the ones who raised it with us because Thunder had done such a good PR job. They are in a very tough place compared to Leigh and yet they are making definite inroads into what is a hugely soccer-obsessed area.

When they beat you, you mean?
How many Leigh fans go to Gateshead? Are all your players British/local? There are Geordie accents in their team, British accents and Aussie accents. I would expect a mix of local/British/foreign players in every RL team.
