DANNY LOCKWOOD - LEAGUE WEEKLY (18-5-09)

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.

Well done to the hull fc fans who travelled down in numbers 1500 at least i think.

It was a good turnout by the Hull fans. It was a win win situation also because even though it was only for 24 hrs, crime rate in Hull went down by 95%, fantastic.

Let's hope so from a purely selfish point of view.

You lot got people noticing yesterday. Even the crusties in the litten tree who like a few pints, horses and paper were asking questions.

Good day and hope you lot enjoyed yourself.

No wonder they stay in the pub though with it being £4.70 for a round of 3 pints

Must say most of your fans we spoke to were very good and very complimentary after the game too

Best of luck for the season, you will do well if you keep that perfomance level up

I thought it was a good night, and the atmosphere was superb. At last it appears to have got around how great Saturday was, and already people have told me they will be going for the first time against Saints.

But seriously was there really 5,000 there? And what percentage of those were free tickets?
I'm sorry but I'm always sceptical about certain attendances at these outpost clubs.

Try none.

People like you will always be sceptical.

....attendance figures important to you are they? Try this one then.
Wakefield v Salford. 6,578 people turned out to watch a game between 2 teams, one formed in 1873, the other in......1873 who were competing for competition points in the Superleague, whilst 200 odd miles down the road in an expasionist area, 6,032 people turned up to watch, what was essentially a training match between a club that is technically 3 years old (29 if you want to split hairs) and a touring team. So, 546 reasons for the knuckledragging flat earth brigade to harp on about.
Why is it that some people go on about attendance figures at clubs they have nothing to do with?

BTW..All of the Quins tickets were paid for....HTH

Why this constant knocking of the new club. Yes there were definitely over 5thousand paying supporters, and a very good sign was the take up of business suites. There will be more their for the Saints game going by the talk in the Valleys this morning, It was also good to see a number of coaches which had brought in supporters outside the Bridgend area. Rugby is the basic sport around here and RL is also being taught. I see the WRU are responding by getting junior rugby going in Maesteg. I don't mind union knocking league, but I do object to supposed league fans having a go.
