Has anyone any idea when Ste Tyrer is going to get his chance in Super League XIV ?

He'll only get a start if injuries kick in, unfortunately coach Dixon has roped on to the idea that only Aussies can play Rugby League.

Hannay and Dalle Court are ok in defence but offer absolutely nothing in attack.

Looks a good player does Tyrer and I believe he can kick at goal too.

Would like to seem him get some game time, think he would prove coach right for picking him

Still looking for the remaining letters in his first name before he can play.

I think it's unfair to judge either Tyrer or Smith from their short time at Widnes. Remember, in their first game, they scored cracking tries which won Widnes the game and they were both hailed as heros. But they were still playing as Saints players, with Saints style. I imagine it is difficult to do a short term loan as they did because they have to perform on demand but without the degree of practice that the other team members have in terms of coaching style and techniques and level of play, not to mention bonding with other team members.

Tyrer's weakness was his defence. He is a brilliant goalkicker and he knows where the tryline is and isn't afraid to go there. But he hasn't mastered his tackling technique. He seems awkward and maybe a bit wary? If he has displayed the same weakness at Celtic then it is perhaps that reason which is stopping Dixon from playing him. Or it may be as suggested: Dixon favours his longstanding Aussie lads at present and so Tyrer is simply in reserve until injury strikes, which it definitely will do (and already has if I remember right).

I think he has done fantastic so far, good but safe. He has had quite afew good runs. Imo he has been one of your stand out players in your 2 games.

yes they did
i am a widnes supporter and they worked wonders for us last season
matty smith has a brilliant kicking game and organised our whole team last year
tyrer scored some very important tries for us last season
two vs salford to win us the game
should be given a full chance on your first team
plus 5,000 attendance quite impressive for first home game of the season
good luck for the season :D

Ste Tyrer's a very decent player, let's not forget he's still only 19. He is still suspect in defence and that is one of the main areas he needs to work onIf you're a centre, defence is not an area you can lapse in because you will always be found out. I would like to see him get his shot, maybe not against St Helens, with the quality they've got and also they will know his weaknesses, but within the next few weeks. If he plays against Saints, I fear his confidence may take a dive.
