There's a couple of really nice beaches; Rest Bay in Porthcawl and Southerdown in..Southerndown. Couple of castles in the local area; Ogmore castle is ten minutes from Bridgend, Coity castle is less than five minutes from the centre of Bridgend. Both free to get in.
The weather's not looking great though...so if you wanted to stay indoors, there's a big retail outlet just as you come off Junction 36 of the M4. Look for signs for 'McArthur Glen','Designer Park' or similar. If shopping's your thing then Cardiff city centre is probably better, but the designer village is alright to waste an hour or two...there's a cinema, few fast food places, and a Harvester restaurant there. Bridgend town centre's got a few decent restaurants; Italian, Indian, Tapas bars, but not sure what's open for lunch really.
There's no reserves game, but you could always catch a local game of Union
The Welsh Premiership kicks off on Saturday.
Best place to go before the game is probably the Litten Tree, by the bus station in town, two minutes from the ground.
