At his press conference tonight Canberra coach Richard Stuart, after lauding the talents of John Bateman, for his toughness and competitiveness, said: "I don't want to sound biased but I love the four Pommies I've got because they're footy players. "

John Bateman was outstanding for Canberra on Friday. Richard Stuart, who is a very emotional man, is passionate about his English players, and Bateman's performance just confirmed his passion.

Your well informed about all things relating to aus rugby news, do you have a direct link there from your town house in Chorley or your country retreat in Carcassonne?

Hull will give us a tough game but the key is to silence their fans in the Threepenny Stand. We have to do this because if we do'nt they will get behind their side and lift them in a way you've never seen, heard or witnessed before.

The fact that John Bateman has been such a smashing success for Canberra has intensified Richard Stuart's love of "the Pommies." It also makes it more likely that George Williams will be lured to Canberra.
