What I've inferred (and it is just that) from Agar's comments in the last two weeks is that he doesn't even want the job long-term and that he was happy doing the role he was originally here to do.
I get the impression he'd be delighted to hear Sinfield say "we've got several interviews lined up next week".
Sinfield is pretty media-savvy by typical RL standards but that interview was poor from him. He took far too much issue with some predictable, obvious but completely fair lines of questioning from Carney that he really should have been able to prepare for and bat away. He didn't come across well at all.
He was clearly frustrated, clearly didn't want to be there and if it was an attempt by Sinfield / Hetherington to stage-manage and put a veneer on the crisis, it backfired massively.
