If I was travelling from out of the area I would stay in Southport for the weekend but if you need to park any of the towns and villages to the north of the city (once you are out of Bootle) have loads of parking.Trains start at Southport so you gat a seat but you will not get free parking unlike the other stations. Birkdale is rocking during the weekend.

Cheers Levrier. The reason I'm coming In by car is because my mate is driving due to being unable to drink (medical condition). He's out near Stockport as well so the logistics of getting trains into Manchester, out to Liverpool and then to the ground make it way more time consuming (and more expensive!) than driving. I've done the coast train from Southport before (lovely journey) so would have been the option if was doing the full weekend.

Hopefully this is the one and only time Anfield gets the gig as it's really not supporter friendly when you compare it to Cardiff, Newcastle and The Etihad.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

In what way is Anfield not as supporter friendly as the Etihad?

With a comment like that, you can't have been to Anfield - at least for a very long time.

It's 2 miles out of the city centre.

There are minimal parking facilities.

Nearest train station is a 25 minute walk.

There is no tram service that services the stadium.

Millennium and St James Park are walking distance from their city centre (-10 minutes)

The Etihad has trams running right outside the ground plus at least 3 or 4 regular bus services.

Feel free to correct me on any of these points....

There's special buses direct to the ground from outside St George's hall which is directly opposite Lime St station and there's the same buses getting back to the city centre after the games so I don't think getting to the ground and back will be too much of a problem if you are not going by car/coach.

That said, I do think this will be the only magic weekend at Anfield which would be a relief to many of my fellow Saints fans who also follow Everton or Man Utd who I know are refusing to go this year because they don't want to step foot into that particular ground. I'm a blue through and through but will still be there on Sunday. If it's Saints I'm there, Anfield or not.

Agreed. I'm a Red (of the Manc variety) but Salford comes first and I'll be supporting them on Sunday.

The Etihad is 1.6m to Piccadilly and 2.1m to Victoria. It’s almost exactly as far from the city centre as Anfield.

There are a ridiculous amount of parking options within 10 mins of Anfield, if you can’t be bothered to do your research that’s your problem

Anfield has a continuous bus service or it’s a few quid in a taxi, less than a tram if shared.. The trams from the Etihad have massive queues. I know, I gave up and walked back to the city centre

The Etihad has about half the number of pubs / food outlets in the surrounding area. Worst ground ever for a pint.

Like I say, you can’t have been to Anfield any time recently or you’d know all this.

Any suggestions? Don't want to get involved in the Marathon nonsense so West of the ground seems a no-go area.

To the east lies the salubrious neighbourhoods of Norris Green and Croxteth (or Crocky to the locals!). Famed for their appearances on Ross Kemp on Gangs, I think I'll give that one a miss.

Neither the RFL or Super League sites are remotely helpful and apparently Stanley Park is out of bounds as there's a kids tournament on the Sunday which will basically mean it's full of parents and organisers cars.

Who the f*ck decided this dump was a suitable venue for our flagship weekend....?

God, you're hilarious aren't you?

Liverpool is a cracking City, and has so much to offer fans. The stadium is as far from the City Centre as the Etihad and Murrayfield are, and they have made such an effort to make this a spectacle which all 12 clubs can enjoy.

If you hate the city so much, just don't go. I get that you're fishing for reactions, but i assure you, you'll find plenty of local car parks available, try any of the car parks near the stadium, even Goodison. It won't impact you and you're delirious ways.

If it doesn't suit you, why not go and park in Moss Side? :USTUPID:

Ridiculous thread. Lets hope it's a success.

It's not ridiculous if you're not a Liverpool fan.
