Team for HKR : Sun May 26, 2019 12:55 pm
Looks like Escare is done now at Wigan so forget about him.

Hardaker
Hankinson/Sarginson
Hankinson/Sarginson (I'd go with Hankinson at centre as he just hasn't got the pace for wing)
Gildart
Burgess
Williams
Sammut
Flower
Leuluai
?
Farrell
Isa
O'Loughlin

Shorrocks
Bullock
Smithies
?

Question marks for two props, after Flower and Bullock we've got nothing really and it shows, damned if I know the answer to that one.

Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.

How come we aren’t playing the next in line winger from the Academy?

Brown has gone back to Bradford and off the top of my head there’s not many options in the position in the u19’s.

Mullen looks to be frozen out as well.

Don't know, is Mullen still in the bad books after his off-field escapades ?

As said above, the next in line for the wing spot should have been Joe Brown but the club have let him go. Escare may feature but he's very much hit and miss - has electric acceleration but has dodgy moments. Hankinson looks uncomfortable on the wing and doesn't seem to have the pace. Mullen has never let himself down on the pitch but because of his stupidity off it he seems to have been frozen out which seems harsh given Hardaker's treatment.

Outside of the first team squad our wing options are Reece Hamlett, Ben Holcroft and Cian Tyrer but none seem ready for the first team yet.

Joe Brown came highly recommended, seems silly he’s been let go and now we really need him.

Could Callum Green play winger?

That sounds ominously like the club's got another embarrassing situation to deal with.

To be at Wigan or not to be, that is the question.
